Welcome to PCS 201: Rediscovering Jesus in a Companionship of Empowerment for the 21st Century
This course introduces the deep wisdom of recent biblical scholarship on the life and teachings of Jesus and the challenges it presents to believers today, and reimagines the Christian call to live as co-creators and empowered individuals within an egalitarian church community.
The core text for this course is Diarmuid O’Murchu’s Christianity’s Dangerous Memory: A Rediscovery of the Revolutionary Jesus (2011). Diarmuid O’Murchu, a social psychologist, is a member of the Sacred Heart Missionary Order in Ireland. He leads workshops on adult faith. In addition to the core text, a variety of resources will be introduced during the course to supplement a particular topic.
The course is available as an independent study or with a cohort. In a cohort model, the 12 week course is presented in six sessions.
Dr. Bridget Mary Meehan and Dr. Mary Theresa Streck are the facilitators of this on-line course. They are available to you through out the course through email at peoplescatholicseminary@gmail.com
